Club Reopening

We hope that you are all taking care and making it through as best possible at this challenging time.

We are pleased to announce that we will be reopening the club for classes, camps, private lessons, and open fencing starting Monday, June 29th.  Your safety is our top priority and we will be implementing a number of new policies, procedures, and practices to ensure the safety of members, coaches and guests.

New Safety Practices

Measures that we will be enforcing to ensure safety include:

  • We will no longer be loaning out fencing attire for short-term usage. Members will need to minimally have their own:

o   Mask

o   Jacket

o   Plastron

o   Glove

o   If fencing electric – body cord

o   If fencing foil electric – lame

o   We will be offering sanitized used equipment for sale on a first-come/first-serve basis details to be posted on our website. We will also be offering a long-term rental option to help any family where this would be a better option at this time.

  • We will be restricting the number of fencers to 10 for any given class and members will be asked to register online prior to each class to ensure we do not exceed our threshold.
  • We will be altering our class schedules slightly to eliminate attendee overlap between classes.
  • We will be conducting a temperature check on all attendees
  • We will be modifying our curriculum to eliminate activities that could put members at risk
  • We will be closing off access to the water fountains, refrigerator, and office.
  • All coaches, members and guests will be required to wear sanitary protective masks

Compliance and Cooperation

We will be counting on your help too to ensure everyone’s safety; by your full compliance with our safety policies and by your cooperation in staying home and keeping your child home if anyone in your household is sick, experiencing any Corona symptoms or if you have had  contact with someone with the virus or virus symptoms over the past two weeks.

We are confident that our implementation and careful compliance with these new measures will allow us to provide a robust, fun, exciting program while maintaining optimal safety for members, coaches, and guests.

Website Updates

Please check our website for class scheduling, fencing attire details, class registration, and other important updates.

Its going to be a fabulous summer of fencing fun and excitement. See you on the piste!

Fairfax Fencers Celebrate the Art of the Sword:

A Few words about Us

At Fairfax Fencers, we believe that anyone can learn to fence! It’s one of the few sports in which people of different ages, builds, and genders compete on equal terms. We strive to offer a fun, rewarding and welcoming experience to anyone who comes through our door. Students learn to attack with the intent to hit, and to defend with the intent to not be hit.  This integrates the mind fully with the actions of the body.

Introductory classes start with the very basic techniques of footwork, stance, distance, blade control, basic attacks and parries, some history of fencing and safety rules.

[/info_list_item][info_list_item list_title=”BEGINNER” list_icon=”Defaults-star”]

The goal of the coaches in the beginner classes is to fine-tune the execution of those techniques introduced previously. Additional techniques and information will be introduced to expand knowledge and practice of attacks, parries and strategies.

[/info_list_item][info_list_item list_title=”INTERMEDIATE” list_icon=”Defaults-trophy”]

Here, coaches will teach techniques and tactics that go above and beyond simple recreational fencing, with more emphasis on proper form, parries, etc.

[/info_list_item][info_list_item list_title=”ADVANCED” list_icon=”Defaults-trophy”]

Students in our Advanced classes should have mastered all the techniques and concepts taught at prior levels and be somewhat involved in the world of competitive fencing.
