Fairfax Fencers After School Program

Fencing provides a great fun way to alleviate stress while developing  critical thinking,  discipline, focus, balance, hand-eye coordination, endurance and many other physical and cognitive skills.  Our After School Program combines fencing along with STEM/STEAM activities, games and homework time in a fun, engaging and enriching atmosphere.

The classic novel The Count of Monte Cristo written by Alexandre Dumas is a tale about a man, Edmund Dantes who is betrayed by his friends, falsely imprisoned, tormented and in the depths of despair. In his darkest hour he comes upon a fellow prisoner and man of faith who teaches Dantes: philosophy,   science, mathematics, languages and how to fence. Ultimately, the fellowship and enrichment Dumas garners from this encounter helps him rebuild his life and cast off the urge for revenge for a higher purpose.

Inspired by the harrowing and life-affirming tale of Dumas and grounded in our belief in the power of a positive and enriching experience we have developed the CRISTO system to provide an outstanding enriching experience in a fun, safe, inclusive environment .
