OUR MISSION
Our mission at Fairfax Fencers is to inspire passion for the sport of Fencing. Becoming a part of our Fencers Family is easy, and affordable. After you have completed our Introductory Program, you can move to our Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced classes. If you have previous fencing experience, you can skip the Introductory Program, and move to the level which is best-suited for you. We have several options available for you:

Beginner Intermediate Advanced Fencers that have completed the Introductory Program will fine-tune the execution of the techniques that they have learned. Additional techniques and information will be introduced to expand knowledge and practice of attacks, parries and strategies.
Fencers will learn techniques and tactics that go above and beyond simple recreational fencing, with more emphasis on proper form, parries, attacks and strategies.
Fencers in our Advanced classes should have mastered all the techniques and concepts taught in prior levels, and be somewhat involved in the world of competitive fencing. Students at this level are looking to really hone their skills to give themselves a final edge during competitions.

OUR MEMBERS HAVE FULL ACCESS TO ATTEND ALL LEVEL CLASSES OFFERED AT OUR CLUB AT NO ADDITIONAL COST.
OUR HISTORY
Fairfax Fencers, founded by Fencing Master Tom Jobson, has been operating and teaching “Olympic” fencing also known as “sport” fencing (as opposed to historical swordsmanship) in Northern Virginia for more than 20 years.
Tom Jobson began fencing in 1965, and has been trained under French Fencing Master Stanley St. Pellicer. He has given lessons at the Circle D’Escrime Fencing Club, and taught accredited Fencing Classes for the Junior College District of St. Louis. He has also taught Fencing in Oklahoma (OU), New Jersey (Trenton State), and Pennsylvania.
Tom founded Fairfax Fencers originally right in the heart of Fairfax City. In 2001, the studio had outgrown the space and relocated to Chantilly. Our facility has 2700 ft2 of fencing space with 18 ft ceilings including three electric strips. The whole floor is covered in 3/4 in. low impact rubber flooring. This material is perfect for fencing on: not too slippery, not too much grip, easy on the knees.
In 2014, Tom moved out of the area, and sold Fairfax Fencers to Mr. Sami Satouri. Although Tom is not as involved with Fairfax Fencers as he used to be, many of the volunteer coaches he worked with and trained remained here to continue to share their knowledge and love of fencing. Fairfax Fencers now offers classes in all three weapons, Foil, Epee and Saber. We encourage our members to enter tournaments, and enjoy the camaraderie of fellow fencers!
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Fairfax Fencers, we believe that anyone can learn to fence! It’s one of the few sports in which people of different ages, builds, and genders compete on equal terms. We strive to offer a fun, rewarding and welcoming experience to anyone who comes through our door. Students learn to attack with the intent to hit, and to defend with the intent not to be hit. This integrates the mind fully with the actions of the body.
